Happy First Day of Fall! It seemed fitting for my first fall post to be Sabrina the Teenage Witch inspired! I went to visit Brooke, my sister, and per usual we had to hit up Taco Mamas and go shopping in Edgehill! Nashville truly has some of the cutest boutiques and I get so excited to visit some of my favorites like Castilleja, American Threads and Pieces. I found the cutest moon dress and choker this trip and I have been wearing the combo on repeat! I am still loving the 90’s chokers and dresses. It’s so fun to feel like your on Blossom or Sabrina! Pleeeaasse tell me I wasn’t the only Blossom Fan ” woooah” 🙂 Anyway, I hope fall is finding you well! Thanks so much for following and I can’t wait to share some of my favorite fall trends coming up! xxWhitney
P.S. I cannot get enough of snapchat filters and this fawn one gets me every time!
Hey friends! I am SO sorry this is my first post in a long while! I have to be honest and tell you that this summer has been absolutely crazy! I have a lot of exciting things coming up this year. I am about to open my own hair salon Goldie’s Arrow 🙂 Pat and I are building a house and we are getting married next July. All of these things are such a blessing and I am so grateful, but pairing these life changes with my busiest work season brought me depression and anxiety. It has affected my life in many aspects and really did a number on me the last few months. I know this topic isn’t a favorite for anyone, but I thought if I shared my story maybe it could help someone else!
I couldn’t bring myself to post anything because I felt like putting up images of “me in my cute shoes in a field” was deceiving to anyone reading! I wasn’t in the right mindset to pretend that everything was going peachy keen. After seeing my doctor and talking to those close to me, I found it felt freeing to be honest about what I was going through. In sharing my difficulties I learned that I wasn’t as alone or isolated as thought, and that so many people around me deal with depression, anxiety or both. Mental Health is SO important and I really feel for those who deal with these disorders constantly and severely because it sucks! I’m trying a few methods that have brought me some improvement and I finally feel like the clouds have broken and that little bit of sunshine is starting to shine through! I am still dealing with it, but I feel like after sharing this and being open, I can start to post more of what I love…like my cute shoes while I stand in a field! haha! A big thanks to my support system (family, friends and clients) who comforted me when I really needed it, you are so appreciated!
This past weekend we got to celebrate the marriage of our friends at the beautiful Ragged Mountain Resort! I had the privilege of doing the wedding party’s hair and the gorgeous bride was a show stopper! It was awesome to be part of such a special day and we had a blast! I mixed up my regular mani by adding a swipe of hot pink to every other nail to give it a little something. I used O.P.I Infinite Shine in To The Finish Lime and Running with the In-finite Crowd (Currently buy 2 get 1 Free at Ulta)! I got so many compliments on my BEACHROW kaftan…it is my favorite dress I’ve ever worn to a wedding! It kept me nice and cool and hid the amount of beer I drank and yummy food I ate 😉 I’ll definitely wear this one all summer long! Congrats again to Marissa and Colin, warmest of wishes on your happy journey together!!
I just got back from visiting my sister in TN and I can’t express how much I love the city of Nashville! It was so good to see Brooke again, and I got to bring my girlfriend Tori along to boot! The sunshine felt absolutely amazing, and it was so nice to throw a dress and denim jacket on to go shopping on 12South. This post’s song inspo wasn’t hard to come up with because we saw Thomas Rhett two times during our visit! It’s such a cool city because you never know what celebrity you’ll see out to eat or shopping on any old day! Speaking of eating… the food in this city is the best. You have to visit Burger Up on 12South and get the friend pickles. Taco Mamacita in Edgehill is home of my favorite meal. Seriously, we had it twice haha! I always get a margarita (two of them), appetizer sampler (queso is the bomb), General Homeboy Tacos with Mexican street corn…I promise you this is what dreams are made of! Any other Nashville lovers out there?
I’m so excited to watch my favorite Mother of Dragons, Daenerys, tonight on Game of Thrones! Pat and I are obsessed with show and I am such a complete GOT nerd that I had to have this pink Mother of Dragons sweatshirt I found on Etsy. I am so obsessed with Etsy, I can always find the coolest custom t’s and tanks that you can’t get in your average store! Another thing I am also obsessed with is my Fitbit. For a Mother’s Day gift we got our mum a Fitbit Alta and are so excited to challenge each other! I love the look of the Alta because it’s a bit more sleek and fashionable. You can even get gold/silver/leather straps that are stylish for everyday or even going out! It’s so cool to see how much you actually walk in a day and how much quality sleep you are getting. Anyone else on this Fitbit train?! Well I hope you all had a Happy Mother’s Day!
To my beautiful Mumma- I love you so very much! Thank you for showing me how hard work and kindness can take you far! B and I are so grateful to have you as our mother and we only hope we can be at least half the mother you are to our children someday! Love you boo- Whitty
How cute are these Rayburn Eco sunnies from Proof Eyewear?! What’s even cooler is they are made of wood, sustainable, waterproof and a portion of the purchase benefits various causes to help others. You can’t beat being cool and kind! Hope you all have an amazing weekend!!
Warning: I’m a complete dork and can think of many puns for this post, but for your sake, I’ll allow myself two! MOOOVE over fishtail, pigtail, ponytail there is a new tail in town…the cowtail! I’ve got beef with the hair industry (2 puns and done) because cowtails have not been repped. Believe it or not, one summer I worked on a dairy farm for a couple of weeks and I have been in love with cows ever since! I am a lover of “next day hair” and dry shampoo. What’s not to love?! That’s how I started what I’m calling the cowtail braid. As usual I slept with my hair in a loose braid and woke up in a hurry so I did a braid but I stopped braiding about a quarter of the way down. Leaving the ends messy and wavy gave it a bohemian vibe and I realized it reminded me of a cow’s tail! I added a dutch braid with the tutorial to give it a little something extra! So here it is friends and I hope you love it! If you do love it or try any of my tutorials please #GoldiesArrow and #cowtailbraid 🙂 Thanks for following, I appreciate it! Stay Golden!
Hey frands! Thought I would do a quick tutorial of the crown braid I was wearing at the flea market! All you need is some bobby pins (these are my fave because there are so many, and like socks, my bobby pins are always missing haha and they are great for holding updos), clear elastics and some texturizing spray I like Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray $44 or Redken’s Windblown 05 $19. It’s the perfect style for next day hair and you’ll be sure to get compliments!!
The Fourth weekend of every month The Fairgrounds Nashville is home to the Nashville Flea Market! It’s in the top 10 flea markets in the country with up to 2,000 booths with a range of antiques, clothing boutiques, hand crafted furniture…you name it! My favorite part of the flea market was discovering Southern Sap Woodworks, they had a dining room table and benches that knocked my socks off. If I lived in Tennessee I would have zero dollars left to my name! Here are a couple pics of an awesome day at the market with family, friends, gorgeous Nashville weather and a special appearance with my nephew, Indiana Bones!
Also: if you are like me and always wondered where the hell the name flea market came from?! I did a little googling for ya! Flea Markets origin came in “1917, especially in reference to the marché aux puces in Paris, so-called ‘because there are so many second-hand articles sold of all kinds that they are believed to gather fleas.’ ” Thank ya Dictionary.com!
It took a little work for me to track these yellow sunnies down, let me tell you! I saw Kate Hudson wearing them during Super Bowl 50 and I searched high and low to find out what brand they were. I was pumped to find they were Quay Australia Frankies AND under $50!! I love when celebrities wear pieces that are affordable.
I also can’t get enough of Etsy. I have been able to find the coolest shops for accessories that are handmade and support small businesses! My latest find has been Southboundvlc. Southbound has handmade leather goods straight outta Texas! I love the leather choker I got, it’s such quality and it makes your basic T look badass!
